4 lunch i went to rj to eat but then after buying my food and starting to eat..i finally rmbrd that we had the makan session 4 winning 4th...so i dumped my food on avi,karthik, tuck wai and haikal and chiong to raja block 4 the pizza... okok onlylah

den 4 actual training....they told us we were going to run...so i thot go rj track and was quite excited cuz like i was feeling like running in the morning and rj is just a GREAT place to run... but then when we got there...they told us that those who were in b'div had a 1month break so we were just hitting our balls...oops.... and they didn't even go rj to run...they just ran at the rugby pitch.. poor c'div..

hmm...had a very productive mugging session with jing on the busride home... but still SO SCREWED 4 CHEM!!!

Went to minitoons to buy sumthing 4 sum1. Spent like half an hour in that small shop. Whoa, shopping is not as easy as it sounds man, can't juz anyhow buy. Rui Jie was acting un-himish, he was acting more like benji. Avi was himself...he seriously thinks he's sexy.(well he kinda is if u look at him thru a girls eyes or sumthing) He did this damn stupid dance with oscar the grouch .Click here to view it. After finding what we wanted, we stumbled upon Clinton and kak yong, their fren and nigel the rugger. Went home with clinton, his fren ( i also know him quite well but can't remember his name) and RJ. Then at one of the stations(dhobi gaut i think), balu walked in with his girl. WOOTS. Damn awkward moment. He walked in , he saw us and then he like smiled in a freaky way. LOL. He was like asking us to go to the next carriage but then we didn't move. He was going to peninsula and guess what, clinton was going there to buy new shoes. LOL!! After that i was with ruijie all the way. Wahh, now i have sum1 to go home with... YAY!!!

Slavery In Nepal

This article is basically about slavery in Nepal. Young girls, some as young as 13, are sent to work for landlords by their families. Sometimes, these girls are sent by their families because they desperately need the money or because they are in dept to the landlords. Others are orphans who are neglected by their guardians and are sent away. These girls do not earn any money at all. They do not go to school and are sometimes abused by their ‘employers’. These unfortunate girls are called Kamlari, or slave girls. Personally, I do not see how the way these girls are treated is different from the way the African-Americans were treated by the whites. They are both abused and treated as slaves, they do not get paid and they lead broken lives. However, the situation in Nepal is slightly worse as these girls are being mistreated by their own race. The African-Americans were mistreated by another, self-proclaimed, superior race.

When I first read the article, I was reminded of the foreigners from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, The Philippines and many other countries who come here to work as maids. These women are sent here to work because they have no other options. They often come from poor families and some of them are rather young. Sometimes they are mistreated and abused by their employers. Then I think to myself, ‘Can this be considered Slavery?’ In some circumstances, the only difference between the young girls in Nepal and the Indonesians in Singapore is the fact that the ones who work in Singapore get paid. After trying to figure out why such a system is legalised in many countries including Singapore, I realised that usually, the foreigners that come here to work as maids are treated well and become part of the family. Sometimes they form unbreakable bonds with their ‘families’ here. I know of a case where a Mother from Indonesia, who worked here as a maid, was given money to pay for her child’s education.

Now, back to the article at hand, towards the end of the article, it is mentioned that some former Kalmaris staged a play depicting the life of a typical kalmari. This play captured the attention of many people and even got some women to protest against the somehow legalised Kalmari system in Nepal. The FNC (Friends of Needy Children) is also taking measures to ensure that such a system is abolished.

Personally, I think that such a system should not even exist in this Morden world. We all preach about equality and lending a helping hand. Now, Nepal is not situated that far away from us and I think we can all lend a helping hand to stop the slavery. Such an incident has taken place, as mentioned, it was between the African-Americans and the whites. History has a cruel way of repeating itself.

It has been quite some time since Singapore experienced its first outbreak of dengue. Now, it seems as though Paraguay is experiencing a dengue outbreak of epic proportions. For example 14 654 people have been diagnosed with dengue but officials say that there is probably 10 times more people who are suffering in silence. This means that 140 654 people have been bitten and infected by the mosquito.

When Singapore had its dengue outbreak, everyone was on their toes. As for me, I practically bathed in insect repellent and I brought a can of OFF! In my school bag every time I go to school. That is how paranoid I was. No, this paranoia among Singaporeans is not something bad or something to be laughed at. In local slang, the word paranoia is substituted by the word kiasu ( I don’t really know how to spell it). Time and time again, Singaporeans have been put down as KiaSu people and sometimes ridiculed by foreigners. We even had a comic character named Mr.Kiasu for goodness sakes! However it is this distinct Singaporean trait that kept the deadly disease at bay.

Babies were made to sleep in mosquito nets, some people walked around with mosquito repellents in the sticker form and some didn’t even dare to go to the market without drenching themselves in repellent. These are but some of the many steps taken by the public to protect themselves and indeed, they deserve around of applause.

Other than the public in general, the government took many steps to control the dengue situation. Have u seen this Jcdecaux poster near the bus stops near your home?

The government took the trouble to make these posters and then paste it at nearly every Jcdecaux poster they could find. Other than posters, they also released an ad with Tan Kheng Hua in it.

In my opinion, Paraguay should try and imitate Singapore in terms of our actions taken to X dengue. It is quite clear that Paraguay may not have what it takes to do so as the country is not as advanced as Singapore. In that case it should try and combat dengue not by solely relying on the government, but instead by getting its citizens involved too. This way, not only is I easier to wipe out dengue, it also less expensive and it does not require much manpower on the governments part.

In addition, it is quite evident that Paraguay may be more concerned about its image than its citizens. This is rather evident when the National Emergency Secretary claimed that the countries health system was not overwhelmed. In my opinion, Paraguayan officials should chuck all these concerns aside and focus on protecting its citizens. They should not feel embarrassed to seek help from other countries.
